I love a good make-ahead spice mix. It helps in terms of economizing if you can make it in a large enough batch and/or have multiple people to part it out between. Much as we did with the makhani spice mix, here's the recipe to replicate a packet of taco seasoning.

Ingredients for the Spice Mix

• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon onion powder
• 1/2 teaspoon cumin
• 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
• 1 Tablespoon oregano
• 4 Tablespoons chili powder
• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
• 1/2 teaspoon salt

Materials

• mixing bowl
• mixing spoon
• measuring spoons - to go really minimal you only need your Tablespoon and 1/2 teaspoon measuring spoons
• storage container

Method

1. Mix all the ingredients together in a mixing bowl.
2. Decant into storage container.
